An order processing facility DFD diagrams I updated my requirements, and after you choose my assignments, I will send you the screen shot for textbook. Now we are ready to move forward into the Data and Process Modeling Phase (see
textbook Chapter 5) of the system development life cycle (SDLC).
Data flow diagramming (DFD) shows inputs, outputs, processes, and data stores for
data flows within a system. DFDs are used to both diagram current systems to
depict their operation in this context and to diagram planned systems to facilitate
better understanding of their operational functionality in this context. In this
instance, your team will be building a DFD set to provide a basis for developing
the needed system functionality.
Your team’s assignment for this project is to build DFDs for the context level,
Level 0, and Level 1 (see textbook descriptions in Chapter 5) of the system to be
developed for the following three functions of the system:
1. An inventory management system to catalog and track all barricade types
manufactured by the company. Inventory management here involves adding
new barricade records, setting the initial inventory level of those barricades,
deleting barricade records for items no longer needed, and maintaining current
inventory levels for all barricades in the system.
2. An order processing facility to track all orders, both rentals and sales, for the
business’s barricade products. This facility will need to interact with the
inventory management system and the business contacts data system to extract
customer information. Order processing here involves checking inventory
levels for product availability and building orders for sales and/or rental.
3. A logistics processing facility to schedule and track the delivery of all orders.
This facility will need to interact with the order processing facility.
The Tasks:
1. Using Microsoft Visio or other application such as draw.io or Lucidchart.com
supporting data flow diagramming, develop a Context DFD diagram, a Level-0
DFD diagram, and a minimum of three different Level-1 DFD diagrams for one
of the three functions described above in Task 1. Your team will need to
brainstorm to identify all potential sub-processes and then select and diagram
them as appropriate for the three DFD diagrams. Provide all five DFD
diagrams on separate pages in a single file from the application that you have
chosen to use. Within each DFD state any assumptions that your team has
made for that DFD.
2. Considering the three business functions described above propose and build a
decision table in either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel to support the
design of a process related to one of those three functions. Decision tables are
developed and used to lay out the decision process for a particular business
operational situation. They can then be used by software developers coding
the system to ensure that the correct logic is present to support the operation.
Within your document or spreadsheet containing the decision table state any
assumptions that your team has made for that decision table.
Submission Requirements:
The designated team leader for this project (and only the team leader) is to submit
two files:

The application file containing the five DFDs required for Task 1 (a single file
containing all requirements for that task).

Either a Microsoft Word file or a Microsoft Excel file containing the decision
table that your team has proposed and built for Task 2. that your team has
proposed and built,
