In response to the discussion question it all comes down to the different components of the criminal justice system. In policing I believe it’s the most difficult to achieve both the crime control and due process models. Police rely heavily on witness statements and evidence when leading to an arrest. The witness statements may not always be true or accurate creating the due process model to lack in this case. Because police are not always at the scene when a crime happens it can be difficult to make the correct choice on whether to charge someone with a crime or not. In the Criminal courts I believe they have outlined a very well rounded example of crime control and the due process models. They look at all the facts and evidence when reviewing a case and dig deeper than the police when charging someone. During the trial they make sure the individuals rights are not violated yet crime control is still being carried out in the process. For the Corrections agencies they do very well with the crime control model but have room to work on the due process model. They make sure offenders sentences are carried out and fulfilled per the courts request. But when it comes to the due process model they have room to work on maintaining the individuals rights and treating every offender the same. I believe that we could have the crime control and due process models achieve a balance in both our Criminal courts and Corrections agencies but I believe it would be difficult to maintain both models in the police system.
