CLASSROOM ARRIVAL PROCEDURE
Follow the 3 STEPS!
1. Arrive on time and enter the room quietly.
(If you are tardy, clip your tardy pass on to the assigned clipboard
OR if you don’t have a pass, print your name on the Tardy Sheet)
2. Go directly to your assigned seat and sit.
3. Immediately, begin your Warm Up activity.
(This will be posted/written on the board or streamed from the projector.)
GENERAL CLASSROOM PROCEDURES
For my Homeroom students:
Arrival at school – 1. Go to breakfast. 2. After breakfast, use the restroom and drink water. Next, go to your
locker before entering Homeroom. N.B. All restroom breaks after this are scheduled!
Attention Signals – When Ms. Austin says: “Ok, let’s bring it back.”, and raises her hand, you raise your hand
and GIVE ME FIVE! 1. Eyes on me. 2. Lips closed. 3. Ears listening. 4. Hands and feet quiet. 5. Brain thinking
about what I’m saying and doing.
When Ms. Austin says: 1, 2, 3, ALL EYES ON ME!
You say: 1, 2, 3, ALL EYES ON YOU!
APPRECIATION for each other – When our classmates do things that deserve praise, we show them…SPIRIT
FINGERS and say HEY!
When our classmates do things that we consider AMAZING, we’ll give 2 thumbs up and sing the MacDonald’s
jingle: Pa pa pa pa pa I’M LOVING IT!
BOOK BAGS – All book-bags MUST be left in lockers! Take ALL the materials for Blocks 1, 2 & 3: you will not
be allowed to return to lockers until the end of Block 3.
CLASSWORK – Make sure your Name, Block #, and the Date are written clearly on the top of the page. The
teacher will give instructions for collection of classwork. If classwork is completed before the other students,
check it over, ask for permission to read a book.
If you have not completed your classwork, you may request permission to complete it at home. You MUST
take an UH-OH Form home to be signed by your parent or guardian. (N.B. Classwork completed at home
automatically loses 10 points and 10 points more for each additional day late.)
COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION (Working in groups) – 1. We will use polite words like please, excuse
me and thank you. 2. Take turns when speaking. 3. Use Spy Talk and Low Flow voices (see classroom chart
for details). 4. If you need to speak with me and there is no time before nor after class, you may write a postit note to me and stick it on the class Parking Lot for your Block; I will gather these notes after each class.

to the speaker by looking at, paying attention and listening to the teacher and your peers when they speak.
END of CLASS – All students will clean up their area before leaving the room.
END of DAY – Students will remain in their last Block classroom until their means of transportation is called
and the teacher releases them. They will then proceed quietly and purposefully on the Hallway – right foot
on the black tile and left foot on the white tile – to either the Car Riders’ lane or the Bus Lane.
HALLWAY & LUNCH – Walk quietly, keep voices at the Low Flow level, whenever possible stay on the Black
