There are two types of major movements of the earth. Earth’s Rotation and Earth’s

No, the Moon does not have any light of its own as the Moon gets its light from the
Sun as the Moon reflects the Sun’s light making it look and shine brightly in the
night sky.
5. What is the time of day a full Moon would rise? When would it set? (Not looking for
precise time, but relative to the Sun.)
The time of day a full Moon would rise is when the Moon and Sun are in different and
separate positions in the sky. Therefore, a full Moon would rise about the same time equal
to sunset and set about the same time equal to the time of sunrise for most places on Earth.
6. As seen by an observer on Earth, do the stars appear to move over the course of an
evening? Why?
Finley|2
Yes, stars appear to move over the course of an evening as seen by an observer on
earth because stars move in circles around the Celestial sphere and can also depend
on the observer’s location of latitude on earth.
7. True or false: When we have our summer season, the Earth is nearer to the Sun.
FALSE
8. True or false: When we have winter, the Earth is further from the Sun.
FALSE

During the course of the year, there are two equinoxes which are the fall and spring
equinoxes. These two Equinoxes happen only twice a year, while the two solstices
which include summer and winter solstices happen once every six months.
10. When the Moon lies directly on the line between the Sun and the Earth, we have what
kind of eclipse? What would an observer on Earth see?
When the Moon lies directly on the line between the Sun and the Earth, we have a
lunar shadow that is seen as a solar eclipse on Earth. An observer on Earth would
see that the moon covers 100 percent of the sun and will experience complete
