Response Logistic Week 3 Hi, I have 2 of my classmate posts. I need you to respond to each one separately. , one source at least for each one of them. write about how good their posts or how bad. you need to do is to choose one point of the post and explore it a little bit with one source support for each response. The paper should be APA style

the question was to Review the Transportation Research News Report, August 2013. (Found in Course Documents).

This is a long document that you can review later, but focus on pages 11-17 addressing Humanitarian Relief and Broken Supply Chains. There are 7 key topics in this section.

Pick one area and briefly explain its impact- positive or negative- as it relates to relief and supply chains. If you can find a disaster to support your position, that would be great.

this is the post from my calssmate FAHAD need to response

Natural disasters and human-made calamities lead to the destruction of property and deaths of many individuals. An effective response to the calamities that have occurred depends with the nature of the supply chain. Adequate resources are needed in responding to such calamities and disasters. When there are adequate resources, cases of delay will be avoided and more lives will be saved. TR News (2013) inform that the affected individuals will obtain relief goods on time. One of the issues in the Transportation Research News Report is on exploring the vulnerabilities. The discussion in this area comprises of issues such as lack of adequate financial and human resources that affect the operations of the supply chain during calamities as well as disasters. Even though the relief organizations redesign and advance their processes, lack of adequate funding will prevent them from having swift operations and response to the calamities. Inadequate resources make it difficult to assess their needs. It also makes it difficult to obtain enough equipment that should be used to rescue the survived victims (TR News, 2013).

In the case of Hurricane Katrina that occurred in the United States of America, the response to the event was not effective. The main reason for the delays and the ineffective response was due to lack of adequate resources by the supply chain and the rescue team to conduct the operations (Cresswell, 2016). Questions have continued to be raised regarding the rescue operations that took place after the occurrence of Hurricane Katrina. The government should ensure that there is adequate funding to the relief organizations so as to avoid delays due to lack of adequate financial resources. Earlier preparations should be done and effective planning should take place to determine the type and amount of resources that will be needed in case of a disaster. According to Cresswell (2016), it will help in promoting swift operations by the rescue team and the supply chain and thus saving more lives.

Advancing Humanitarian Logistics

Natural and man-made disaster swept through various parts of the world and received much attention over the past decade. Meanwhile, many parts of the world suffer from the lack of basic necessities, including shelter, water, food, education, access to basic health care and safety, which have been identified among “humanity’s top 10 problems over the next 50 years”. Effective logistics operations are a critical component of addressing these needs.

With the objective of articulating challenges in the humanitarian logistics sector and identifying important research issues and opportunities, practitioners and researchers from around the world convened for the 2009 Humanitarian Logistics Conference , held at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Conference participants numbering more than 180 from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, private companies and academic institutions listened to presentations on key humanitarian logistics challenges and strategies to overcome them, focusing on disaster planning and response, long-term development, identifying important research issues and opportunities, and collaboration within and between organizations.

The challenges in humanitarian logistics are great and include, among others, limited availability of resources and infrastructure to address needs, high uncertainty and urgency characterizing response efforts, and the presence of multiple stakeholders who often act with different objectives [3]. Drawing on the outcome of the focused workshops, panel discussions and presentations, event organizers have identified the following 10 ideas that are consistently part of a strategic model for successful humanitarian relief operations.

1. Demand analysis.

2. Inventory planning and control.

3. Regional coordination and synergies.

4. In-kind donations management.

5. Collaboration among organizations.

6. Understanding regional political, economic and socioeconomic conditions.

7. Utilizing local capacity and capabilities.

8. Constant communication.

9. Socioeconomic impact assessment.

10. Humanitarian operations evaluation.
