What is your role as a health care team member?
1. Answer:
a. RN and prior a RVN. Has worked in this field for the past 25 years.
2. How do you define professionalism and how does professional responsibility influence your
work?
• Answer: by the way you work with your patients, colleges’ and staff member on your
team. Handling oneself as a professional within your role and field. Being or holding
yourself responsible for the care of your patient is key. If your patients’ needs care and
you aren’t able to give it to them at that exact moment then not only do you lose your
professionalism with the patients but also with your colleges. Your again the first line of
defense and your knowledge is what will determine the care the patients get from that
medical doctor.
3. Do you consider yourself a steward of health care? Why or Why not?
a. Yes
i. Why or why not:
1. To your Patients you are the first line of defense. You prepare for the
doctors what’s needed and you are also the first face the patients and
the medical doctors see. So if you’re not professional or you don’t know
what you’re doing than the patient won’t feel safe in your care.
4. Is it important to you that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as
power and influence when working with colleagues?
a. Yes it is important to exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power
and influence when working with colleagues because they need to know that you know
what you’re doing in any situation no matter how big or small.
b. Why or why not?
i. Because if your don’t have the skill or know how to care for your patients or the
heart or passion than your patients will see this and knowing how to care for
someone regardless of what capacity your role or skill take you can make or
break a facilities reputation. Patients tend to go to where they feel safe and the
staff knows what they are doing. Patients are watching and they do feed off of
each other when it comes to the care and nurturing of their care. Word of
mouth goes a long way.
