Class, last week, we conducted a person analysis to determine common elements affecting performance. Then, we concluded that the employees at the call center definitely need some training and development opportunities to address the issues causing their performance gap.

This week we will start designing our training program. We should start by defining the objectives of our program. What do you think? IT WAS A GREAT WEEK OF LEARNING ABOUT TRAINING OBJECTIVES AND I FEEL SO MUCH MORE CONFIDENT NOW IN THIS PROCESS.

I FIRST LEARNED THAT ANY GOOD TRAINING OBJECTIVE PROGRAM SHOULD HAVE A GOOD TITLE OF WHAT IT IS YOU ARE COMMUNICATING SUCH AS THIS WEEK’S TRAINING PROGRAM SHOULD BE TITLED, “CALLING FOR EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION”. THE NAME OF OUR TRAINING PROGRAM SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO OUR OBJECTIVE. BUT BEFORE WE DECIDED ON OUR NAME OF THE TRAINING, WE USED A PANEL OF EXPERTS TO VALIDATE THE ACCURACY OF THE TRAINING OBJECTIVE

I ALSO LEARNED THAT TRAINING OBJECTIVES OF OUR PROGRAM SHOULD CONSIST OF DESIRED OUTCOME, CONDITIONS AND STANDARDS. OUR TRAINING OBJECTIVES REFER TO ALL THE OBJECTIVES THAT ARE DEVELOPED FOR THE TRAINING PROGRAM.

AN EFFECTIVE TRAINING OBJECTIVE WOULD NEED THE FOLLOWING: REACTION, LEARNING, TRANSFER OF TRAINING, ORGANIZATION OUTCOME AND COMPONENTS OF AN OBJECTIVE SO THAT AT THE COMPLETION OF THE TRAINING, THE TRAINEE WILL BE ABLE TO USE THREE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES THAT FIT THE EMPLOYEE’S PERSONALITY TO ADDRESS A CONFLICT DURING A MANAGERIAL MEETING.

THIS WEEK WE HAVE LEARNED ABOUT INTRODUCTION TO THE DESIGN OF TRAINING.

THE DESIGN PHASE OF TRAINING IS A PROCESS THAT ALLOW YOU TO DETERMINE THE REQUIREMENTS USED DURING THE DEVELOPMENT PHASE OF TRAINING. IT WILL BE THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE TRAINING MANUALS THAT WILL TEACH GUIDELINES OF HOW TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES BASED ON ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS. THIS WILL BE AN OUTLINE OF DEPARTMENTAL GOALS AND HOW TO FOLLOW STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF BEING SUFFICIENT ON THE JOB AND INCREASING COMPANY QUALITY SCORES AND TO PREVENT GAPS IN PERFORMANCE. THE DESIGN PHASE WILL DETERMINE REASONS THE TRAINING MODEL SHOULD BE USED IN ALL ORGANIZATIONS. IT ALSO DETERMINES WHO IS IN THE NEED OF TRAINING THIS SHOULD BE EVERY EMPLOYEE IF THE ORGANIZATION IS PERFORMING BELOW STANDARDS. DESIGN PHASE WILL DETERMINE THE AGENDA OF TRAINING AND HOW IT WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED. DESIGN PHASE WILL FOCUS ON WHEN AND HOW LONG REQUIRED TO GET TO THE TARGET LEVEL THAT IS REQUIRED. Use 1-inch margins.
Use Arial, Courier, Times New Roman, or Calibri font style.
Use 10, 11, or 12 point font size for the body of your text.

Write Clearly
Use appropriate language and be concise.

Cite your sources throughout your work when you borrow someone else’s

Add each cited source to the source list at the end of your assignment so that

Don’t forget to cite and add your textbook to the source list if you use it as a
source.
Build a Source List
Include a source list when the assignment requires research or if you cite the
textbook.
Type “Sources” centered on the first line of the page.
List the sources that you used in your assignment.
Organize sources in a numbered list and in order of use throughout the paper.
Use the original number when citing a source multiple times.

When quoting or paraphrasing another source in your writing, you need to give credit by
using an in-text citation. An in-text citation includes the author’s last name and the number of

Source List
The source list (which includes the sources that you used in your assignment) is a new page
that you will add at the end of your paper. The list has two purposes: it gives credit to the
authors that you use and gives your readers enough information to find the source without
your help. Build your source list as you write.
Setting Up the Page
·· Type “Sources” at the top of a new page.
·· Include a numbered list of the sources you used in your paper. (the numbers
indicate the order in which you used them). A well-researched assignment has
at least as many sources as pages.
1. Use the number one (1) for the first source used in the paper, the number
two (2) for the second source, and so on.
2. Use the same number for a source if you use it multiple times.
Building a Source List
·· Ensure each source includes four parts: author or organization, publication
date, title, and how to find it. If you have trouble finding these details, then reevaluate the credibility of your source.
·· Use the browser link for a public webpage.
·· Look for a permalink tool for a webpage, which requires logging in, such as the
Strayer Library.
·· Write a comment instructing your readers how to find all sources that do not
have a browser link or a permalink.
