Theory findings and context

Choose one concept, research finding, or question that stood out to you in your readings and content assigned for this week. Find an empirical research article about this that was published in the scientific literature and provide a summary of that article here answering the following questions. Attach the article to your post, and provide an APA style reference for it at the bottom of your post.

1. What is the item that stood out to you and why?

2. What did the authors of the study you selected examine in their research? What did they hypothesize and why (rationale)?

3. What methods did they use?

4. What were the most meaningful findings the authors reported?

5. What is one limitation to their study?

6. How do the findings from this study help you better understand the content from this week?

Part 2

State your hypothesis. What limitations did you address in your proposal?  Would it be possible to overcome these limitations for your dissertation? Why or why not?

Long-term goals of intervention

Intervention: Body project https://www.blueprintsprograms.org/programs/836999999/body-project/

Requirments: 2-3 double-spaced pages in length. Use 12pt Times or Times New Roman font with 1” margins on all sides.

Problem Identification

Identify the problem(s) that will be targeted by the intervention and indicate why the problem is important to address. Use several specific facts about the prevalence of the problem. Some sources to help you with this section are posted in the  Paper #1 Instructions and Resources module. ( Note: Make sure to include citations for where you got this information from.)

Basic Activities

Describe the activities that occur during the intervention. Who provides the help? What do participants do during the intervention? How long does the intervention last? (e.g., LifeSkills Training is implemented over the course of three years. There are 15 lessons during the first year, followed by 10 booster sessions during the second year, and five lessons during the third year.) Where does the intervention occur?

Intervention Spectrum

Describe who receives the intervention (e.g., Who participates in the intervention? What age(s) are the participants?) Then, identify where the intervention lies on the intervention spectrum. Is it prevention, treatment, or maintenance/rehabilitation? If it is prevention, is it universal, selected, or indicated? Explain how you knew where the intervention was on the spectrum (e.g., LifeSkills Training is a universal prevention program because all youth at a school participate in LST).

Goals and Strategies

Identify the long-term goals of the intervention. Are the long-term goals to reduce problems, promote competence/wellness, or both? Identify the short-term strategies of the intervention. Are the short-term strategies focused on risk-reduction, competence promotion, or both?

Ecological Niche(s)

Thinking about each of the main intervention activities, use Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model to identify which levels (or interactions between levels) are the focus of the intervention. Focus on what levels the program directly tries to change, rather than what it may change indirectly.

Reflections

Without considering how the intervention was actually evaluated, discuss how you might know whether or not the intervention works. For example, what outcomes do you think should be measured? When should these outcomes be measured? (i.e., right after the program? Months or years after the program is ended?) Are there any challenges that may occur when trying to measure these outcomes?

References

On a separate page at the end of your paper, include a References page. At a minimum, this should include the citations for the websites that you used as sources. It should also include any other sources that you cite in your paper (e.g., articles from class, articles about the prevalence of the problem). Because APA is the standard format used in this field, it is the preferred style for the references, but APA format is not required.

Articles related to research interests

Assignment 4: Literature Review

You will use FSCJ libraries search option to find “peer-reviewed” academic journal articles related to your research interests. You will then review the literature, summarizing the research you found in your own words (using at least 8 peer-reviewed academic journal articles as sources and citing them in the text). After your review of the literature, within the last couple paragraphs of your paper, discuss gaps in the literature that your research question may be able to answer and comment on which theories or ideas in the literature might be useful for your research. Decide if you will keep the same variables you identified in Assignment 3 or make changes as necessary. State all 4 of your variables, your main research question, and hypotheses again at the end of the paper. Your literature review should be 4 pages, double-spaced. You should have an additional reference page citing all 8 articles (making the paper 5 pages total).

Settings and successful communication skills

Discussion: Communicating in Your Internship

Directions

Kiser, Chapter 6: Communicating in Your Internship, describes the clientele who access HUS settings and successful communication skills for HUS practitioners. Throughout your HUS courses, you have been exposed to theoretical perspectives regarding individuals, groups, families, and agencies, and reviewed counseling, mental health, aging, multiculturalism, case management, and social policy. Now the time has come to apply your knowledge directly with human beings. As you have progressed through your internship and have reached the halfway mark, you have had opportunities to not only interact with clients but to observe situations in which you have been challenged to remain neutral and communicate effectively.

For your initial post:

1. Describe your client population. Cite Kiser Chapter 6 material to explain some of the characteristics of this group and some of the challenges a HUS professional might encounter.

2. Discuss what you have learned in your HUS coursework that has helped you to understand and work with this clientele. Specifically name the course and information. For example: Family Systems and Dynamics helped me to understand that the whole family plays a part in the problem that the client presents. Ethics taught me that the professional role has clear boundaries and that I must be aware of those boundaries to help my clients without violating ethical standards. Group Dynamics taught me that conflict and power may make it hard to serve my client population. Please refer to the courses you have taken.

3. Discuss at least 2 areas that have been more difficult as you work with the clientele.

4. Discuss your understanding of what roadblocks have been presented for you to overcome, for example, personal beliefs and values regarding conflict, anger, addiction, poverty, incarceration, aging, gender, culture, religion. It is important to be honest and own that although being objective is an ideal, as human beings, our own biases and beliefs will be brought into sharp relief as we deal directly with others who are facing challenges in their lives.

5. Discuss what you can do to work towards more neutrality when faced with clients who challenge you. Give at least three methods you can use to help you overcome these challenges.

Assignment: Initiating and Contracting With the Group

Social workers who are proposing a treatment group must think of logistical concerns such as the group size, timing and number of sessions, and processes for gaining informed consent, ensuring confidentiality, and establishing group rules. These items may feel like routine administrative tasks, but they have the power to impact members’ sense of security and the success of the group as a whole. For example, if rules are externally imposed on members, rather than created from within, it may affect empowerment. If one member does not take the informed consent agreement seriously, they might freely disclose confidential information outside the group. As the group leader, the social worker is responsible for developing strategies that help everyone feel safe to share.

In this Assignment, you write the next sections of your Treatment Group Proposal, focusing on group composition, contracting, and orientation of group members.

To Prepare

· Review the Learning Resources on the beginning stage of group work and on assessment.

· Review your Week 6 Assignment, in which you detailed the purpose, membership, statement of need, and recruitment of your proposed treatment group.

· Continue to draft your Treatment Group Proposal by focusing on the “Composition & Contract” and “Orientation” sections.

Due By 10/15/2022

Submit a 2-page paper covering the following sections of your Treatment Group Proposal:

· Composition & Contract: Criteria for inclusion/exclusion, size (number in group), open/closed; contents of contract (number of sessions, frequency, time of meetings, and length)

· Orientation: How you will address and ensure confidentiality, obtain informed consent, and establish rules

Use the Learning Resources to support your paper. Make sure to provide APA citations and a reference list.

Ethical issues involved in situations

Dr. Jamison has joined a group practice of psychologists who have asked her to develop her biography to post with her picture on their social media page. They have asked Dr. Jamison to reach out to her former clients from her last employer to solicit testimonials. Dr. Jamison is very concerned about this request. She was unaware the group practice had a social media page. When she visits the page, she sees several client testimonials for other psychologists in practice, some of which appear to reveal identifying information about the clients.

In 500-750 words:

  1. Describe the ethical issues involved in this situation.
  2. Discuss the steps Dr. Jamison should take with regard to her discovery of potential ethical concerns.
  3. Provide recommendations for the group’s advertising needs that would meet ethical standards.

Use  three scholarly sources to support your claims.

Final Psychological Report Case

Final Psychological Report – Arthur Case

1. Consider who is making the referral and how this impacts your assessment of the data; is the intended consumer of the report a parent, a school system, a mental health practitioner, a probation officer, or another stakeholder?

Rubric critical element : For this question, identifies the source of the referral and the intended consumer of the report, noting how these stakeholders impact assessment.

2. What additional client information would have been useful? How would you obtain it?

Rubric critical element : For this question clearly identifies and provides strong rationale for additional information and suggests a way to obtain the information.

3. What have you learned through this process? What would you like to know more about?

Rubric critical element: Provides clear examples of insights or learning gained through the report-writing process; includes examples of areas for further study.
